U.S. Naval Base Guam aka “Big Navy”

| Orote Commissary | HOURS Wed – Mon: 10A – 7P | CLOSED on TUESDAYS! Best times to go: be there before doors open, between 1-3P & stay clear of venturing there after 4:30P during the work week, but good time to go Sat & Sun. Here is their website for more info. There is an ATM available here through the first set of doors. You can’t miss it. |
| Charles King Fitness Center & Pool | HOURS Mon – Fri: 5A – 10P Sat & Sun: 8A – 5P | Find info on classes and hours for the pool here. When swimming classes are offered go EARLY to sign up. You aren’t allowed to reserve over the phone. Between the beach and the pool, you don’t want to miss out on this awesome opportunity for your kiddos. **there are a few ppl that teach swimming classes off base but their prices are a little steep. If you want to stay away from the crowds then this may be a better option for you & your little one. |
| Child Development Center (CDC) | HOURS Mon – Fri: 6A – 6:30P PHONE (671) 564-1845 | Go through the 1-2 hour orientation to take advantage of the Hourly care if you want some “me” time for just a few hours a week. It’s only 5 bucks an hour and totally worth it. The CDC also offers a monthly $5 an hour Give Parents A Break. Be sure to call early. Spots fill up fast. More info on the CDC here. |
| School Age Care (SAC) & Teen Center | SAC HOURS Mon – Fri: 6A – 6:30P PHONE (671) 339-6130 TEEN CENTER HOURS Mon – Fri: 2-5:30P PHONE (671) 564-1844 | SAC – Full-time and drop in care is provided for children enrolled in kindergarten to 6th grade (ages 5-12 years). More info here. Teen Center – This center is open for Teens 13 – 18 with no registration fee. Parents just need to fill out a registration packet! More info here. |
| NEX | HOURS Mon – Thur: 9A – 8p Fri & Sat: 10A – 8P Sun: 10A – 7P | Out in town prices for everyday items are an extra few $’s. It’s worth taking the trip to the NEX for a majority of your items. There is a Navy Federal ATM to the left of the entrance. Here is a list of shops and services the NEX offers. |
| NEX Auto | HOURS Mon – Sat: 7A-6P | If you need ANY auto supplies stop here. It’s in between the NEX and the NEX Home Gallery. There is also a car wash right behind it. |
| NEX Home Center | HOURS Open Daily: 9A – 7P | There’s a doggie shower here and a water station to fill up your 3 or 5 gallon jugs. You’ll find it next to the Wendy’s & the Military Autosource. |
| NEX Home Gallery | HOURS Mon – Fri: 10A – 7P Sat & Sun: 9A – 7P | You’ll find it across the street from the NEX Auto store. You’ll also find the tailor/dry cleaner here. Go thru the doors and you’ll see them on your left. |
| McCool Elementary/Middle School | SCHOOL HOURS 8:15A – 2:45P TUES HOURS 8:15A – 1:45P PHONE 671-339-8676/8678 | This school offers PK-8 grade and serves about 900+ students with a teacher/student ratio of 1:18. For more info check out their website here. |
| NBG Library | HOURS Tues: 10A – 6P Wed: 10 A – 7P Thur – Sat: 10A – 6P Sun, Mon & Holidays: Closed | The library can be easy to miss. You’ll know you’re in the right stop when you see the library book drop box in the parking lot. Check out a list of programs and services they offer here. Look for the toddler activities that are offered during the day if you’re a stay at home mama. *If you need something printed, you get up to 10 free prints! |

If you live off base near Hagatna this might be a better option. First you get on the waiting list at Big Navy. Once you get accepted for care there, then they’ll put you on a second waiting list for the Hospital CDC. |
| Mini-Mart & Package Store (alcohol) | Mini Mart Hours: Open Daily 7A – 9P Package Store Hours Mon – Fri: 9A – 9P Sat & Sun: 7A – 9P | When you drive up you’ll find the Mini-Mart on the left and the Package (alcohol/other drinks) to the right. There is also a Navy Federal ATM here. |
| Guam High School | SCHOOL HOURS 7:30A – 2P TUES HOURS 7:30A – 1P PHONE 671-344-7410/11 | There’s a little over 400 students enrolled here with a teacher/student ratio of 1:15. | Exchange | HOURS Daily 9A – 8:30P | There is a full GNC store right before you walk into the Exchange. They have a pretty good selection of products. This Exchange is more up-to-date than the NEX in just about every way. It is missing an organic section and baby food isle that the NEX offers.
